Khorfakkan Port welcomed a large roll-on/roll-off vessel carrying 6,068 electric vehicles manufactured by Chinese automaker BYD. The vessel departed from Xiaomo International Logistics Port in Shenzhen, marking the launch of a direct maritime shipping route between the two ports.
The Sharjah Ports, Customs and Free Zones Authority, in cooperation with Gulftainer—the operator of the commercial terminal at Khorfakkan Port—unloaded the shipment and prepared the vehicles for delivery to the relevant parties.
The arrival of this shipment reflects the port’s advanced operational capabilities in vehicle handling. By August 2026, approximately 24,675 vehicles had been handled at Khorfakkan Commercial Terminal, with an average unloading rate of 141 vehicles per hour and a record peak of 197 vehicles per hour.
The implementation of the “Discharge & Drive” model also accelerated direct clearance operations, enabling the vehicles to exit the port yards within 96 hours and further strengthening Khorfakkan’s position as an advanced logistics hub connecting global markets with the region.
